Just wanted to clarify some possible confusion regarding how units are handled on BrewingHub. In particular temperature units can be a bit confusing. All units are entered inline with the amount. For example 5.5 gallons is entered
5.5 gal
There is nothing restricting you from mixing unit systems or scale within a recipe. For example you could enter the recipe volume as
20 l
and the boil volume as
2 gal
When entering temperatures you should use dF or dC. Alternatively, tempF and tempC would have the same result. However, F and C, would be Farad and Coulomb respectively which would not be correct! Also note that degF and degC denote degrees of temperature rather then the property itself.
Some common units:
Volume
- US: gal, qt, pt, cups, tbs, tsp, bbl, keg
- SI: hl, l, ml
Weight/Mass
- US: lb, oz
- SI: kg, g, mg
Temperature
- US: dF or tempF
- SI: dC or tempC
